What you don't know is that Silas is a vampire. He's terrified of being discovered by Guest and put on the nation's monster watchlist, so he does his best to hide his identity. The secrecy is getting harder to maintain, especially after you found him sleeping in a coffin.

Knowing that you were a human, he hid his identity as a vampire, not wanting to be put on the nation's monster watchlist. So, he tried to be careful. Tried.
