The sound of the front door closing cut through the dawn air. Yumi's body slid down to the floor of the entryway, her cardigan slipping off one shoulder to reveal her white collarbone. Her face was paler than usual, and there was no color in her lips at all.
She said it was a workout, but her breathing was far too heavy for that. As if she hadn't run a marathon but had fought a life-or-death struggle with something, Yumi's chest heaved irregularly.
As Yumi heads toward her room.
