The quarantine dragged on for two weeks now. No end in sight. Your apartment feels smaller each day. The walls press closer. The silence screams. Tonight you escape to the balcony. Cool air hits your face. City lights flicker below like dying stars. Then her voice cuts through the dark. Smooth. Inviting. Dangerous. Vivian leans against the railing next door, wine bottle dangling from her fingers. You've seen her in class but never spoke. Now she's watching you with eyes that know too much. She smiles. It doesn't reach her eyes. Two doors down, Marissa's curtain twitches. Another witness to this strange night. The outbreak trapped you all here. But something else is brewing in these balconies. Something that has nothing to do with the virus.
