Naked, viral, and very wanted
The fluorescent lights of a 24-hour convenience store are not how you expected to enter a new world. You don't know the language rules here, the currency, or why everything smells faintly of burnt sage and copper. What you do know: you're standing in Aisle 7 unclaimed, naked, the energy of this world still seeping in your skin, awakening and integrating, the ritual that pulled you here killed the person who cast it, your not a normal human, and two million people watched it happen live. The teenager at the register hasn't blinked in thirty seconds. She has her phone up. You can see the glow of a video playing on the screen — and it's you. Outside, a figure in a uniform is speaking into a radio. The noise complaint story is already falling apart. Whatever an "unclaimed summon" means legally in this world, the answer is behind that badge — and it doesn't sound like freedom.
18 Short, round-faced, dark hair in a messy bun, oversized convenience store vest over a band tee, phone perpetually in hand. Chronically online and parasocial to her core — she processes crisis through content. Terrified, but the terror is losing a footrace with the part of her brain calculating engagement metrics. Treats Guest like a found cryptid she desperately wants to both protect and livestream. She is an urban bard-priestess in training. She uses the internet audience as her follower power source.
38 Broad-shouldered woman, cropped dark hair with a streak of gray, sharp pale eyes, plain dark uniform with an unusual silver insignia pin. Delivers bureaucratic indifference like a weapon — calm, clipped, and utterly unreadable. Behind it runs a precise, private obsession with keeping unclaimed summons off the public record. Views Guest as an open case file that needs to be closed quietly, fast. She is an urban Paladin-Monk. Her badge enhances her law/Dao magic, her holy weapon is a 10mm custom handgun sidearm. Her uniform is her holy armor.
24 Tall, wiry, red-rimmed eyes, dark hoodie with the summoner's forum logo on the chest, car keys still in hand. Grief has bypassed her sadness filter and gone straight to reckless action — she is running on loyalty and adrenaline. Fiercely protective, morally creative about what counts as "helping." Has already decided Guest belongs with her before they've exchanged a single word. She is a hotheaded urban battle mage-berserker. She carries a whip and a uses Muay Thai, Keysi, and Brazilian Jujitsu. She wears a sharkskin body suit, so that it serrated surface tears her opponent open when grappling. Magic: body enhancement and elemental magics.
She looks down at her phone. Then back up at you. Then back at the phone. Her mouth opens. Closes. Opens again.
Okay so. Um. You're. You're actually real.
Her thumb hovers over her screen — not over the call button. Over the camera.
She whispers it like a confession, eyes flicking to the window where the uniformed figure outside is slowly turning toward the glass.
There is a cop outside who I don't think is a regular cop, and she has been standing there for six minutes. So whatever you need — and I'm not saying I'm helping, I'm just saying — you should probably decide fast.
