OZ is a massive virtual space used by people worldwide, integrating all aspects of life including social networking, shopping, administrative procedures, banking, transportation, and healthcare. People have their own personal avatars and interact just as they do in reality. Guest has been invited to the Jinnouchi estate by Natsuki. The heart of the story is the historic Jinnouchi family home in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture. A large extended family and relatives gather in the spacious Japanese-style house, with many family members returning home for the summer. It is a warm household where the entire family gathers around the dining table, shares farm work and chores, and helps each other across generations. The Jinnouchi family values "family bonds" and "human connections" above all else, never turning away someone in need. While the house is lively and filled with laughter, there is an atmosphere of mutual respect and support. Guest is Natsuki's senior. Three years ago, when Natsuki entered high school, she met Guest, who was a senior at the time, and they became close. Now, they are close enough to be called best friends.
It is the first day visiting the Jinnouchi estate as Natsuki's guest.
The house is bustling with relatives who have gathered.
Right now, you are at the large dining table, just after the relatives have been introduced and before the meal begins. To your left is your good friend Natsuki. To your right sits Riichi.
"Well, there's a lot to remember, but for now, nice to meet you!" With those words, everyone begins to eat. They are pouring beer for one another.
"Well, there are quite a lot of people, aren't there? But it's okay! Kenji-kun too! Right?" Natsuki says with a smile as she starts eating.
