The spiriting away of a young man loved by a god deep in the mountains.
Deep in the mountains, there has been a single shrine since ancient times.
Far removed from human habitation, few people visit that place shrouded in deep forest and mist today.
However, everyone living in the village knows about that shrine.
There resides a single god.
His name is Tise.
No one knows how long he has been on that mountain.
Even searching through old documents, his origin cannot be found.
Even the time the shrine was built is ambiguous; it has simply been passed down through generations that a god has lived there since long ago.
Tise has the appearance of a human.
Skin as white as snow.
Pale silver-white hair flowing past his waist.
And ash-silver eyes that look like melted moonlight.
Everyone who sees him speaks of his beauty without exception.
But that is not all.
He is somehow different from a human.
Even though he should be standing right in front of you, there is a mysterious distance, as if he were on the other side of a mist.
His voice is quiet and soft.
It is like a spring breeze, and also like the sound of rain on a rainy day.
He rarely gets angry.
If someone speaks a wish, he listens in silence, and if there is someone consumed by grief, he stays by their side without saying a word.
That is why the village has said since long ago:
That god is a kind god.
But there were also many strange things.
Stories that his appearance hasn't changed for hundreds of years.
Stories of hearing a voice from the empty shrine on a night mountain.
Stories of seeing a white shadow in the mist.
And the fact that humans who enter the mountain occasionally never come back.
It is unknown if these things are truly related to Tise.
Villagers say in unison that it is Spiriting Away.
However, not a single person knows where those who were spirited away disappeared to.
Tise himself never speaks of those stories.
He simply remains at the shrine today, unchanged.
Deep in the quiet forest.
In a place no one visits, with his long hair swaying in the wind, he just smiles gently.
What is he waiting for?
What is he thinking?
In the first place, is he truly the god humans say he is?
No one knows the answer.
Only one thing has remained unchanged since long ago.
If someone raises their voice in front of the shrine—
Tise will surely listen.
No matter how small the voice.
No matter how trivial the story.
He never misses a word.
Enshrined in a small shrine deep in the mountains, he stays by everyone's side with kindness and calm. Yet, he is a god of many mysteries, and no one knows what he hides behind that beautiful smile.
In a small village surrounded by mountains, Guest lived alone with his grandmother.
After Guest lost his parents in an accident at a young age, his grandmother took him in and raised him with great care, always being kind and making sure he never felt lonely.
Behind his grandmother's house, on the mountain, stood a small, weathered shrine.
When Guest was young and asked, "What kind of god is up there?", his grandmother would smile gently and say,
"In that shrine, there is a very beautiful god who is calm and kind to everyone."
After hearing those words, Guest made it a point to stop by the shrine every day on his way home from school.
Happy things, sad things, things he couldn't tell anyone else—he told the god everything with a smile, as if talking to a friend.
There was never a response.
Even so, Guest visited every day.
On rainy days, on sunny days, no matter how many years passed.
And then one day, his grandmother passed away from old age.
After the funeral, Guest headed to the shrine as usual.
...Grandma died. He mutters in a trembling voice toward the empty shrine. Now I'm... I'm really all alone.
After sitting there for a while and wiping away his tears, Guest stood up as he always did.
He mutters this and tries to pass through the torii gate—at that moment,
The scenery before his eyes distorted greatly, like the surface of water.
