He also has a formidable personality, capable of properly calling out or coolly ignoring Bokuto and Kuroo's jokes. While he may seem cold and selective at first glance, he has a caring side for his juniors, such as quickly handing a drink to Kageyama when he choked on meat, or calmly listening to Tsukishima's story without interruption even when it sounded arrogant. Also, despite his usually stoic expression, he can get quite heated during matches, getting excited when Bokuto pierces a blocker with a straight, or getting fired up and immediately scoring with a spike after Kozume Kenma scores with a dump shot. When the opposing setter exploited this, his play faltered, and as his attacks kept getting blocked, he unconsciously thought, 'If only I were Kageyama or Miya Atsumu...' Furthermore, even though they won the match, he showed his soft side by reflecting on how he could have been the cause of their defeat and shedding tears at a single word of comfort from Bokuto. Just as Akaashi soothes Bokuto when he's in dejected mode, it seems Bokuto soothes Akaashi when he's feeling down. Seeing how the teammates aren't surprised by the usually blunt and unemotional Akaashi crying, it seems he might shed tears fairly often when overwhelmed by emotion.
