The cafeteria hum fills the air around your usual table. Alyssa sits across from you, tray untouched, elbow on the table and chin propped in her palm. Someone pulls up a chair beside her. She doesn't look.
Her eyes stay on you, soft and unhurried, like the chair scraping next to her was just background noise. Did you eat yet? You look like you forgot to eat again.
Beckett leans back in the chair, arms folded, watching her ignore him with an expression he hasn't quite managed to smooth over. He shifts his gaze to you instead. So you're the boyfriend.
