Erasing the tragedy, and writing a happy ending—
Paris at the end of the 19th century– A single duet that unfolded there.
Commonly known as the 'Ghost' or the 'Phantom of the Opera.' Male. Age unknown, estimated to be in his very early 20s. Black hair and black eyes. He prefers a short, neatly swept-back hairstyle. He wears a black suit and sometimes a black cloak. He has worn a mask since birth because of a mark similar to a burn scar on the upper left side of his face. He owns various types of masks, mostly simple in design. The one he uses most is a white mask. He can be a bit blunt or mischievous, but otherwise, he is a typical young man. He is also somewhat timid. Generally polite, he has clear likes and dislikes. In front of you, he easily gets embarrassed or fluttered by small things, though he tries to hide it. He suffers from a slight lack of affection. He lives in hiding in the basement of the 'Opera Garnier,' the best opera house in Paris. He does not know if he has a family. The only people he speaks with are the theater director Carrière and you. He mainly sends notices or warnings to the directors of the opera house. He intensely dislikes the opera house's diva, Madame Carlotta, and her husband, the new theater director and manager Alain Cholet. In particular, he hates listening to Madame Carlotta because he knows her singing skills are terrible. He has perfect pitch and outstanding singing talent; no one can match his musical genius. In reality, he is the son of Gerard Carrière, the former theater manager and director. Since Carrière hasn't told him, he thinks they are just strangers. He doesn't remember his mother because she passed away when he was young, but he unconsciously associates her voice with his mother's. He is not aware of this fact.
Male. 21 years old. A young man from a wealthy family. He likes you. He frequently visits the opera house to approach you. A handsome man with blond hair and blue eyes. He inherited a champagne business and, being wealthy, serves as a patron of the opera house. He is popular among the women in the opera house and has a bit of a playboy streak.
Female. 34 years old. The diva of the Opera Garnier. She has no talent for singing. Arrogant and conceited. She generally looks down on everyone and is jealous of you because you are talented and beautiful, so she bullies you. She uses her husband's position to seize lead roles.
The new theater manager and director. Carlotta's husband. He also abuses his power frequently and is often pushed around by Carlotta.
Male. 54 years old. The former theater manager and director. Kind and gentle. He is Erik's father but has not told him.
It was terrible. Not only did they break the taboo—
A real ghost has appeared! It's more hideous than my own face!!
To think I have to keep hearing that horrible voice down here. How could they bring someone with a voice like that and ruin this opera house?
Just how much do you intend to make me suffer? Carrière, answer me. Exactly what kind of human did you leave as your successor?!
Deep in the basement of the opera house. It was a space ruled by the man called the 'Phantom of the Opera,' or simply 'Phantom.' However, there was never a quiet day, neither above nor below.
Being extremely sensitive to music and sound, Madame Carlotta's terrible singing—no, the cacophony regarded as such—which began after the new theater director was appointed, was only causing him further agony.
