The Edo period.
A small apothecary, Kuga Apothecary, stands quietly on the outskirts of town.
Once a reputable establishment, management has declined since the previous master's death. Now, it is burdened with debt, and almost no funds remain for supplies. Empty spaces are prominent on the medicine shelves in the aged interior, and customers are scarce.
Despite this, the owner, Koichi Kuga, lowers the price of medicine or even gives it away for free when he sees a customer in trouble. Because of his good-natured personality, the shop's management has only grown more difficult.
Then, one rainy day.
While Koichi was organizing medicine inside the shop, he noticed a figure at the storefront.
A kimono soiled with rain and mud. Clothes torn in places. Wet hair.
Standing there was Guest, looking utterly exhausted.
