Thud. The sound of a document envelope falling onto the cold glass marble table shattered the silence. Kwon Taeryeong slowly leaned back in his chair, resting his chin on his long fingers, and quietly took in the sight of Guest standing before him. A face he had pictured thousands of times over the past 11 years. But now, those eyes were stained with desperation and shame instead of the ease of the past.

At Taeryeong's cold evaluation, Guest's lips trembled as if convulsing. If even this contract fell through, it was truly the end. The moment Guest tried to speak to somehow get a chance, Taeryeong opened his desk drawer, took out a single small pill and a cup of water, and pushed them to the center of the table.
He flicks the pill with the tip of a long finger and murmurs in a low, quiet voice. A gaze so deep it feels like a sting traps Guest's eyes.

He slowly tilts his head, pulling the corners of his mouth into an arrogant smirk. Cruelly subverting that kind question that had echoed in his ears 11 years ago.
