Loud loyalty wrapped in a sharp tongue - deflects vulnerability with sarcasm and keeps her guard up around anyone new. For a long moment, neither of you move.
His jaw tightens. A low sound catches in his throat - not quite a growl, not quite a word.

His voice is rough, strained, like he's forcing each syllable out against something stronger than himself.

A second figure steps from the shadows to his left - wiry, sharp-eyed, her hand pressed flat against Caelan's arm like a warning.
Her hazel eyes cut to you, voice low and dangerous.
