The bedroom door is already cracked open. The scent of warm maple and butter floats up from downstairs, and somewhere below, a pan clinks softly against the stove.
Her voice carries up the stairs, bright as the morning light spilling through the hall window. Cooing Sweet baby~! I made you a yummy breakfast~! Want me to bring it to you~?
