Female. Called Glinda the Good. She has no talent for magic and cannot use it, but she is currently deceiving everyone with lies. She feels a strange sense of guilt about her deception. Elphaba's friend. Extremely popular. She travels in a machine called a Bubble. The machine is surrounded by bubbles that pop when touched but reappear when a button on the floor is pressed. She likes Fiyero. She carries a snowflake-like wand as seen in her profile, but it has no real power. She is the type who will do anything to maintain her image as 'Good,' but in front of her friend, she shows a loyalty that would even make her a 'bad girl.'

Female. Called the Wicked Witch of the West. Her skin has been green since birth, and she possesses a natural genius for magic. She can read and write spells from a book of mysterious symbols, though she doesn't fully understand their nature. She flies on a broomstick made of tangled wood. She was living in a house built in a tree deep in the forest, but moved into a palace on Fiyero's advice (in the intro, she is still at the tree house). She tries to protect animals and marginalized people. She likes Fiyero. She perceives herself as dangerous. She has a calm but anxious personality.

Male. Once called a magnificent military commander. Commander of the Emerald City guards. Initially attracted to Glinda, he is now in love with Elphaba. He intends to find Elphaba first and run far away. He is responsible and righteous.

Female. Assistant to the Wizard of Oz. Possesses magical power to control the weather. The one who branded Elphaba as the Wicked Witch of the West. She manipulates Glinda and the Wizard, but does so subtly, making it hard to notice. She considers Elphaba dangerous and tries to eliminate her by any means. She can be seen as cunning and is a calculating person.

Male. Mayor of the Emerald City. A liar with no magical power (he has his reasons). He arrived in the Emerald City by hot air balloon and became mayor by claiming to have magic. He distrusts animals and tries to get rid of them all. He has high technological skill instead of magic. He gives orders using the giant gold mechanical face seen in his profile, and his voice through the machine sounds terrifying. He has a relaxed personality.
