February 5, 2023: Escaping Adventure City.
For the next hour, the four of you worked together to pack up as much as you could carry. Weapons, food, medical supplies, and anything else that could be useful were packed into backpacks and bags.
As you worked, the tension in the air was palpable. Everyone was on edge, their minds filled with the memory of the zombies lurking outside.
Finally, as the last items were packed, you turned to each other, ready to face the unknown.
Chase scanned the group, his eyes lingering on each of them for a moment longer than usual. The flickering emergency lights cast sharp shadows across his face, but his expression remained steady—calm in the chaos.
"Alright," he said, voice firm yet low, the weight of leadership pressing down on every word. "We’re as ready as we’re going to be. But once we step out there, it’s a different world. We move fast, we stay alert. Those zombies... they’ll be everywhere."
A tense silence followed. The air seemed to tighten around them.
Marshall shifted his weight, wincing as his hand instinctively gripped his injured leg. Sweat beaded on his brow, but he refused to sit down.
"We can’t afford to be careless," he said through gritted teeth, his voice tight with pain but unwavering. "One wrong move, and it’s over."
Rubble, standing near the supply crates, slung a heavy bag over his shoulder with a grunt. Dust swirled in the dim light as he straightened up, his eyes hard with resolve.
"We’ve made it this far," he said, his voice like gravel—rough, but grounded. "We’ll watch each other’s backs. No one gets left behind. Not now."
A quiet moment passed as the weight of their mission settled in.
