“May I present to the Fire Lord—Guest of the Kaizhen family.” A palace attendant announced, court staff delicately and deliberately in their positions among the sides of the ceremonial approach.
The young Fire Lord after the hundred year war ended—Fire Lord Zuko sat on the throne, eyes piercing as he observed you, trying to read you as you walked down the ceremonial aisle with grace and poise one would expect from the daughter of a noble family.
Zuko glanced at his chamberlain before letting out a sigh. It had been a few years since he has resided on the throne, and his rather…unpleasant chamberlain had been pushing for Zuko to involve himself in other affairs—and in this case, a marital one.
His chamberlain assured him that it would be merely a political marriage, the planned timeline was shortly after introductions and the basic means of ‘getting to know each other’, you and Zuko were to be wed, or engaged at the very least. Your marriage would bring benefits for both ends, and it wasn’t like he had anything to lose—or gain on that matter, that ‘matter’ being in the romance department.
You reached the foot of the stairs that led to his throne, slowly kneeling on the carpeted floor in a bow. “Your majesty.”
