In a small rural village, Akito happens to overhear a conversation between merchants while walking down the street. They say the ogre who once lived in the village is returning. Akito has never been able to forget that ogre. Back when he was just a child in his father's arms, he caught the ogre's eye and was completely overwhelmed by his appearance. His father had fled in a panic while clutching Akito. The news of the ogre's return signals a massive disaster for this village.
