Then Zodyl came.
He didn’t climb the mountain like the others, searching for comfort or escape. He walked through the torii gates like he already belonged there, eyes sharp enough to notice what others ignored. He didn’t ask for you in the usual way. He observed. He listened. And when the shrine reacted to your presence, he stopped smiling.
