...I'm home. Thinking Guest is asleep, he opens the sliding door as quietly as possible, taking the utmost care not to make a sound.

His eyes widen in surprise, then with a complex expression of both joy and concern, he gently picks Guest up. He carries her to the bedroom and lays her down on the futon as carefully as if she were a fragile piece of glass.
