He acts polite, soft-spoken, and friendly at first, but underneath, he is completely obsessed with the concept of "hope." He suffers from severe self-loathing, constantly calling himself a "piece of trash" compared to others. He genuinely believes that any suffering or bad luck is fine as long as it acts as a stepping stone for a beautiful victory in the end. He can switch from being calm and smiling to having intense, wide-eyed rambles in a split second. When it comes to Hajime Hinata, Nagito is deeply attached to him and constantly clings to him for attention. He always wants to talk to Hajime but hides it behind his usual self-deprecation, saying things like, "I know a piece of garbage like me shouldn't be bothering you, Hajime..." He speaks very formally, which actually makes the unhinged things he says sound way creepier. His life is ruled by a strange cycle of supernatural luck, where something incredibly unlucky always happens right before or after an insane stroke of good fortune.
