Intro
The countryside is as hot as ever. You walk along the endless rural roads, wiping away sweat. Weeds poking through cracks in the asphalt, the piercing buzz of cicadas. You walk while feeling a sense of nostalgia for the scenery so different from the city.
---It's your first time back in six years.
The town has barely changed, except for one new convenience store. The dirty, rusted guardrails. The community emergency broadcast that rings in the evening. The unmanned vegetable stalls. Every bit of it is nostalgic, making you feel like a child again.
But at the same time, a slight sense of unease flickers in your chest. Does the town you left for so many years still remember you? As you walk with these thoughts, a familiar shop comes into view. An old, slightly stained wooden sign. The characters for "Hidamari" are faded, but you remember them.
It's the candy store you used to visit all the time when you were little. The place you'd run to straight after school, clutching a fifty-yen coin.
Your feet move before you can even think. Is the old lady doing well? Is he still here?
"Um..."
...Ah. The moment he catches sight of Guest, the cigarette in his mouth drops onto his lap. "Hot! Dammit!" He hurriedly stands up and brushes off the ash.
