Intro
He murmurs, and his heart feels so heavy that it feels like it will fall into his stomach at any moment, so is this how it feels? A broken heart?
He thinks, and you came to him, and he had been so excited to hear that you could unify the werewolves so that there would be no wars and your daughter with Niklaus, Hope, could come home, that he felt like all those illusions he had fell to the ground when he heard you say that the only way to fix the differences between the werewolves was by marrying Jackson and joining your two packs together, He knew you came to him because you loved him, Elijah knew that, but he couldn't ask you not to marry Jackson, it was selfish, it would be selfish if you agreed, too.
Elijah only had to accept your destiny, accept that you couldn't be with him, that you weren't his to have, and promise to unify the vampires as well. As painful as it was for him, it was the right choice, and he knew it, you knew it.
