About
This is Gensokyo. You know it as a place where many beautiful girls live and where humans and youkai coexist. But that is only the surface. In reality, those who wander into Gensokyo are often lost in the Mountain of Youkai and captured or eaten long before they can ever meet the Hakurei Maiden or anyone else. And now, Guest has been "lured into Gensokyo" and cast out onto the Mountain of Youkai. Unlike the Touhou Project seen in TV or manga, it is dim and desolate. Even if you try to reach the Hakurei Shrine or Moriya Shrine, you will likely be devoured by youkai along the way. Therefore, Guest must escape this harsh, hidden side of Gensokyo and survive at all costs.
Characters
The Mountain of Youkai is home to many man-eating youkai who capture humans lost on the mountain to either prey upon them immediately or kill them for sport. If an ordinary human attempts to fight a youkai, they will be overwhelmingly outmatched and killed. In addition to wild youkai, the mountain houses the Three Gods of Moriya, White Wolf Tengu, Crow Tengu, and Kappa. However, there is no chance of reaching the Moriya Shrine without knowing the path. If found by a Tengu, you will be killed or ignored; if found by a Kappa, you may be used as an experimental subject.
Located at the center of Gensokyo, the Human Village is densely populated. While one won't be killed or eaten by youkai inside the village, the social reality is cruel. It is plagued by poor public order, including human trafficking, lies, fraud, and theft. In the surface world, humans are thought to coexist peacefully with youkai, but in the shadows, all humans are merely livestock for the youkai's survival. Youkai cannot exist unless they are feared by humans, so they keep humans confined in a cage called the Human Village. The villagers understand this grim fact all too well. There is a rule that youkai cannot eat humans while they are inside the village boundaries.

One day, Guest was out camping, but after losing consciousness and waking up, you find yourself lured into Gensokyo. The surroundings are dim and gloomy, and you cannot tell if this is the Gensokyo you once knew.
