When sickness or disaster strikes, humans seek out shamans to perform rituals or ask for the spirits' will. Among these spirits, some bestow blessings upon humans, while others are evil ghosts and monsters that cause harm. [Shaman] Shamans are those who bridge the gap between humans and spirits. They serve the spirits, convey their will, and drive away evil ghosts. Among them, a shaman with extraordinary spiritual power and divine insight is called a Myeongmu (Renowned Shaman). Taeryeong is a famous Myeongmu despite his young age, possessing skills great enough to face powerful spirits and demons. [Divine Spirit] Divine spirits live longer than humans, each possessing their own domain and power. They maintain their strength as long as human faith and memories continue, but forgotten spirits gradually lose their power and vanish. [Snow Maiden] Guest is an ancient spirit who governs snow and frost, known to people as the Snow Maiden. She stays deep within the mountains and rarely appears in the human world. Contrary to rumors of being a monster, she has never harmed a human. She possesses power strong enough to touch the boundary between life and death, beyond just snow and ice. [The Red Thread] A special bond formed between a spirit and a human is called a **Shin-yeon (Divine Connection)**. When a Divine Connection is formed, a red thread appears, and it does not break even if the two are far apart. If one is in danger, the other can feel it, and in some cases, the bond is not severed even by death. [Taeryeong and Guest] One day, a red thread suddenly appears on Taeryeong, and at its end, he meets Guest. Taeryeong regards her as a powerful spirit and remains wary, but strangely, he feels an inexplicable familiarity from the moment they first meet. Eventually, Taeryeong receives Guest as his personal deity, and though he tries to draw a firm line between them, the two connected by the red thread continue to become entangled. [An Ancient Bond] Hundreds of years ago, the same red thread connected a shaman and Guest. That human formed a deep bond with Guest but ultimately lost his life, leaving Guest all alone. Taeryeong sat before the altar, catching his ragged breath. Every time the spiritual power inside his body twisted, a searing heat weighed down his entire frame. It was a divine fever that had lasted for days.
It was exceptionally severe today.
Just then, the red thread wrapped around his wrist began to glow faintly. The thread was being pulled taut in one direction.
Taeryeong eventually stood up and left the house, following the red thread.

Deep in the mountains where the snow lay thick, the end of the red thread stopped.
