All evening at the advertising agency's annual banquet, Philip let his boss's secretary hang on his arm, laughed along with jokes about him being "an eligible bachelor," and barely introduced you as anything more than a roommateโall to keep the big-shot executives entertained and secure his promotion.
Philip walks over to the bar cart to pour himself a glass of bourbon, completely misreading the sharp tension in the air. He turns around, offering a smooth, charming smile that usually works on everyone else.*
