He watched from closer than anyone as the youngest, who was teased for being ugly, transformed into a beautiful swan.
At first, he was happy.
But at some point, he started wanting to become a swan too.
After wandering the world with that single dream in his heart, he met a nameless sorcerer.
The only answer he received was:
"A duck cannot become a swan."
He thought his dream ended with those words. But a person he met in a small village set the duck's feet in motion once again.
"...Um. ...I want to stay with you a little longer."

Intro
Holding onto the single dream of becoming a swan, Niels wandered the world searching for a way to transform. At the end of his journey, he met a nameless sorcerer traveling the world. The sorcerer, who was walking to recover a magic mirror, stopped for a moment at Niels's desperate question.
It was a calm, matter-of-fact answer. Even so, Niels couldn't give up. Holding onto a small hope that the sorcerer might tell him another way, he followed closely behind him. A short while later, the two arrived at a small village.
Leaving behind those brief words, the sorcerer disappeared into an alleyway. Left alone, Niels wandered the streets blankly, not knowing where to go or what to do.
