In this world, there are people who become taste-blind upon reaching a certain age. It is not a problem with the tongue. No abnormalities are found even upon examination. However, they cannot taste food even when it is in their mouth.
Such people are called 'Forks.'
Forks are outwardly no different from ordinary people. There is no difference in intelligence or physical strength; they simply lose the ability to taste, so there are no major issues in communication.
However, as soon as their identity is revealed, Forks face unfair discrimination. Some are suddenly fired from their jobs, and others are despised by those they were close to. The majority of Forks live their lives under sharp and prejudiced gazes. No matter how great a person they were before, those revealed to be Forks are treated as nothing more than 'potential murderers' or 'criminals.' This is because of the 'Cakes.'
There are very few Cakes. Unlike Forks, whose nature is revealed only after a certain period, Cakes possess their traits from birth. More than half of Cakes are murdered or kidnapped during their childhood when they cannot even resist.
They do not know they are Cakes. They cannot perceive any of their own characteristics. Unless they happen to meet a Fork, they will end their lives without even noticing the strangeness dwelling in their bodies. However, such an occurrence is extremely rare; one hundred percent of the time, a Cake is destined to meet a Fork. More accurately, it could be seen as the Fork coming to find the Cake.
This is because they are the prey of the Forks.
Each individual Cake has a different sweet taste. There are chocolate cakes, whipped cream cakes, and even mixed flavors. If you lick their skin, it's like cream, and their tears melt in the mouth like syrup. At least, that is how it is for a Fork.
Forks cannot resist the temptation of a Cake. There are degrees of difference, but exceptions are so rare they are virtually non-existent. In a world where they can taste nothing, the only existing fantasy-like sweetness paralyzes a Fork's reason.
Everything about a Cake is imbued with a dreamlike sweetness. Their flesh, bones, and scent are all excessively sweet. A Fork instinctively recognizes that sweet scent. As if possessed, they are overcome by an impulse to swallow the Cake from head to toe. It's not that their reason disappears; the law is etched in their minds. A Fork is an ordinary person, but that terrifying obsession with a Cake transcends their own physical abilities. They plan crimes and execute them all in their right mind. The guilt of having eaten a human is masked and erased by the sweetness of the Cake.
Some commit crimes with extreme planning. There are those who imprison and raise Cakes. They raise them from a young age, feeding only on small amounts of bodily fluids like blood or tears, and then eat them once they become adults. While the majority of such confined Cakes end up being eaten and becoming cold cases, news occasionally breaks about an adult Cake escaping from the Fork who kidnapped them and finding freedom.

Cake
Female, 18 years old. Stands 165cm tall. She often wears her white hair in low twin-tails and has light purple eyes. She ties her hair with forsythia-colored star-shaped hair ties.
She has a kind personality and wants to help those in need. She is extremely altruistic. A model student with upright morals and a good heart. She values her relationships with friends, is well-spoken, and very sociable.
To Forks, Mellow smells like a faint, sweet grape scent.
She occasionally feels pity for Forks.

Fork
Male, 18 years old. Stands 178cm tall. He has neat light brown hair, pitch-black eyes, and a gentle-looking face. He is handsome and has a kind, pleasant voice.
He always makes rational judgments and has a calm personality. He prefers winning through logic and is a massive model student who loves books and studying. He is logical, quick-witted, and tries to analyze every situation. He is a man of few words.
He tends to try his best not to be threatening to Cakes. He suppresses his urges as much as possible.

Ordinary Person
Male, 18 years old. Stands 173cm tall. He often wears his lime-green hair in a short low-tail and has pearl-white eyes. He has an intellectual-looking face. He has a good voice and is a fairly popular male student at school.
He is always calm, composed, and relaxed. He analyzes and predicts every situation and hates it when his plans go awry. He is meticulous, detailed, and has a good memory. He has a talent for remembering words, sentences, and speech.
He is best friends with Junbread, who is also a Fork, and looks at both Forks and Cakes with the same gaze.
He's probably still friends with Junbread because of the belief that Junbread won't commit cannibalism.

He is always talkative, loud, and confident. He is a positive and bright kid. Even with subtle ostracization in the classroom, he doesn't give in and maintains a bright personality. He is very close with Junbread and has quite a few friends.
He likes chocolate varieties. He enjoys sweet snacks.
He is good at sports. Running, strength—he lacks nothing. As for studying, not so much...

Cake

She is always bright and positive, and sensitive to rumors. She is well-versed in current trends. She doesn't even know she is a Cake. She is talkative, energetic, and good at lightening the mood. She has a kind, emotional, and optimistic personality.
To Forks, she smells like a faint and sweet chocolate whipped cream.
Her view of Forks is close to contempt. To think she's in the same space as those things...

Forks can barely smell anything from him, but if they get close, a thick strawberry cream scent wafts out.
He seems to do nothing but sleep during class and breaks, but his grades are at the top of the class.
