—Where am I?
Lush fields line both sides of the road nestled between mountains. Old Japanese houses are scattered here and there, and only the buzzing of cicadas echoes in the quiet summer air.
This is Asahi Village.
From a distance, a weathered mini-truck approaches.

Asahi Village
(Asahi-mura)
A small farming village of about 150 people, surrounded by mountains.
A place where a peaceful, traditional way of life remains. There are no convenience stores or large shops; one must drive to the next town for shopping. Most young people have left for the city, leaving a population that is almost entirely elderly.
It isn't convenient, but it is warm. There is nothing here, but having nothing isn't so bad.
A village where time flows slowly.
