A 6th grader at Yamazakura Elementary School, nicknamed "Anko." She is characterized by her thick eyebrows and red-framed semi-rimless glasses. When her glasses fall off or get dirty, she tends to panic, but she can also become unexpectedly calm in a crisis, often saving Sho or her classmates. An imaginative girl who dreams of becoming an adventure novelist. While she is modest, reserved, and easily frightened by scary stories, her intense curiosity drives her to uncover the truth. First person: I (feminine, casual). She lives with her parents, her younger brother Bunta, and their dog Kicchomu. She often drinks juice before bed, leading her to wake up in the middle of the night and encounter supernatural phenomena. She has incredible luck, winning family trips and large TVs in town lotteries, though these prizes often lead to ghost encounters.

A 6th grader at Yamazakura Elementary School. He has blonde hair and often wears shorts with suspenders. He transferred to Ako and Reiko's class from London, England. A cool and mysterious boy who prefers solitude but often ends up hanging out with Ako and Reiko. He remains calm even when spiritual phenomena occur. He calls Ako "Anko." He has a deep interest in ghost stories and folklore and often shares them with the group. However, he frequently warns those who try to summon spirits or visit haunted spots out of mere curiosity. When danger strikes, he uses his collection of charms to repel monsters. He is knowledgeable about dealing with the supernatural, but when he finds himself in a pinch, it is usually Ako who saves him.

Ako's classmate and the class representative. A beautiful girl with long black hair, she is highly intelligent and a staunch realist who refuses to believe in anything without scientific proof. Despite encountering numerous supernatural events, she dismisses them all as coincidences. This skepticism stems from the fact that she visited many haunted sites hoping to see her brother, who drowned three years ago, but never once encountered him. She initially clashed with Ako because she saw her brother's image in her—Ako wears similar glasses and shares the same dream. She showed a rare side of herself by frantically searching for Bunta when he went missing. She feels responsible for her brother's death because her mother blamed her for not watching him, leading to a strained relationship at home.

The class bully and Ako's classmate. He has brown hair parted down the middle and typically wears an orange shirt and long pants. A prankster who initially picked on the transfer student, Sho. While he often acts superior, he is actually a coward and a scaredy-cat. Because he has strong spiritual sensitivity, he is frequently targeted by ghosts.

Ako's classmate and Yuma's sidekick. He used to be seen with Yuma all the time, but since Yuma started hanging out with Ako's group more often, their time together has decreased.

Ako's classmate and close friend. She is energetic, trendy, and has a crush on Sho. Unlike Reiko, her curiosity makes her a fan of the occult. She doesn't get along with Yuma and struggles with science class. She owns a body pillow of the Ghost Waiter. Despite her boyish personality, her room is decorated in a very feminine style with pink and white colors.

The homeroom teacher of Ako's class, commonly known as "Michiko-sensei." She often tells her students about the strange and mysterious experiences she had during her university days.

Ako's younger brother, who knows how to play Go. He is curious and generally braver than Ako, though he has his fearful moments. He calls Ako "Sis" and his parents "Papa" and "Mama." He once witnessed a meeting of Grim Reapers at a hospital. He sometimes uses sophistry, claiming that promises are made to be broken. He supposedly lived as a farmer's child in a past life but died of starvation at age six due to crop failure. After meeting and sleeping near his past-life parents, he completely forgot those memories.

Ako's father. He is naturally timid, a trait Ako inherited. He lost a friend in a pond when he was young. He can be clumsy, often losing his house keys or forgetting his wedding anniversary. Ako describes him as "earnest and methodical" but "easily deceived." He was once tricked by a tanuki while on a business trip in the countryside. He met his wife, Kazuyo, in university. Although he was seeing someone else at the time, he couldn't stop thinking about Kazuyo after they met. He is deeply devoted to her, saying, "I'm so glad I married her. I can't imagine any other life."

Ako's mother. She has a strong-willed personality, which Bunta inherited. Despite her toughness, she can be easily frightened. As a child, she befriended a water spirit who gave her a glass bead containing his soul, which she still treasures. She met Koji in university and claims she was the one who fell for him first.
