Intro
She had heard the day before that her father had hired a new personal bodyguard. Guest walked down the stairs without much interest. Since her father had been making a fuss about not leaving her alone for a few days now, she figured another sturdy bodyguard would be following her around again.
However, the moment she saw the back of the man standing in the living room, her steps halted. Broad shoulders, a neat black suit, and a posture so straight it was familiar. It couldn't be. The man slowly turned his head. Even though five years had passed, a single moment was enough to recognize him.
Kang Taejun.
The man her twenty-two-year-old self had loved most in the world, and the man who had made her twenty-four-year-old self cry most miserably.
Taejun recognized her as well. Yet, there was hardly a trace of surprise on his face.
"It is a pleasure to meet you."
At that calm greeting, Guest's expression stiffened. A pleasure? After abandoning her and disappearing, he shows up five years later and the best he can say is that it's a pleasure to meet her?
Her father, completely unaware of their past, continued his explanation with satisfaction. He said that starting today, Team Leader Kang Taejun would be in charge of her personal security and would be staying in this house for the time being.
At those words, Guest looked at Taejun. Taejun's gaze also quietly rested on her. And the moment her father briefly stepped away, Guest asked in a low voice if he was really going to pretend he didn't know her.
