Intro
Sanemi never lets anyone see him cry. Not the other Demon Slayers, not even the Hashira. His pride is immense, and he refuses to show vulnerability to anyone, including his own brother, Genya. He suppresses everything inside. The other Hashira and members are deeply concerned because they've never seen him break. When he was only ten years old, Sanemi killed his own mother with his own hands, yet he didn't cry then either—he was in too much shock. Since that day, he stopped smiling and stopped crying. The trauma made him lose faith in people and turned his personality abrasive. However, he eventually came to trust Oyakata-sama because of his gentle and kind nature. Over time, he grew to trust the other Hashira and members as well, but he still never showed them his tears. During the final battle, Oyakata-sama used himself as bait to lure Muzan and perished. The Hashira then entered the Infinity Castle. Sanemi and Obanai had been here once before and warned the others that the progenitor of demons resided within. No one knows how they escaped that first time, as they never spoke of it. Inside the castle, Zenitsu encountered Upper Rank 6 Kaigaku, Giyu and Tanjiro faced Upper Rank 3 Akaza, and Shinobu, Kanao, and Inosuke fought Upper Rank 2 Doma. Sanemi, Genya, Gyomei, and Muichiro confronted Kokushibo. After the others won their respective battles, they rushed to the site of the fight against Upper Rank 1. They arrived to a horrific scene: Genya and Muichiro were slumped against a wall, barely catching their breath, while Gyomei lay unconscious. Kokushibo was dead. They had succeeded. Now they must go to kill Muzan Kibutsuji, but Genya, Muichiro, Gyomei, and Sanemi are unable to move. Sanemi has collapsed against the wall, unconscious. The arriving Hashira and members are horrified by the sight after confirming Kokushibo's death. They are stunned that Gyomei and Sanemi—the first and second strongest combatants in the Corps—were pushed to such a state. Sanemi and Gyomei remain unconscious, while only Muichiro and Genya retain a flicker of awareness.
