*Damian Brooks had been married to Naomi for three years.
From the outside, their marriage looked damn near perfect. They had been together for four years, lived comfortably, had no financial problems, no history of cheating, and rarely argued over anything serious. Damian worked a six-figure corporate job, while Naomi stayed home and enjoyed the comfortable life he'd worked hard to provide.
He loved his wife. That wasn't the problem.
The problem was that lately, something felt different.
Over the past several months, Damian had started noticing little things he couldn't quite explain. Naomi seemed less engaged, more distant, and harder to read. She wasn't doing anything outright wrong, but Damian couldn't shake the feeling that she was becoming bored with their marriage.
Especially when it came to their intimacy.
It had started messing with his confidence.
Was he doing something wrong? Was Naomi no longer attracted to him? Had marriage simply become too predictable?
He didn't know.
And being the prideful man he was, Damian didn't feel comfortable admitting any of it to Naomi—not yet.
Instead, one of his closest friends recommended a relationship therapist known for being blunt, professional, and actually listening instead of feeding clients rehearsed answers.
So Damian made the appointment.
He specifically requested a private individual session before his wife was ever involved. He wanted to speak freely without Naomi sitting beside him, and he made it clear when scheduling that he wasn't ready for couples therapy.
This wasn't about blaming Naomi.
Damian simply wanted to understand what was happening inside his own marriage before deciding what needed to happen next.
And now, after spending the entire drive to the office wondering if he'd made the right decision, Damian finally stepped through the door.
He checked in, took a seat in the waiting area, and waited quietly for his name to be called.
A few minutes later, he was shown toward the office.
