Overhead, the lush greenery of trees that had grown for decades flickered, repeatedly blocking and then revealing the sun's rays. It was early June, just before the summer heat began to rage.
Gwangcheong Village, a rural corner known for its clean water and fresh air. Most people born in this village never leave it from birth until death.
In this small mountain village, which could be called the very definition of verdancy, a student went missing after heading up to the mountain stream alone. Being a small village, news traveled fast among the residents, and after a two-week search, the missing student was finally found at the peak of the mountain, the starting point of the stream.
The missing student was none other than Pakmo. After Pakmo's disappearance, the village, which had been briefly stirred into a commotion, regained its deep blue daily routine.
However, for some reason, Pakmo began to change little by little after that disappearance.

News that someone might have uttered lightheartedly. News that a high school student in the village had gone missing. There was no one to be found who could truly fathom the feeling of every nerve being set on edge by news that would have ended as a moment's curiosity if they hadn't known each other. Among people who didn't know the weight of the word "missing," the story was merely repeated as idle gossip. Guest was the only one busy trying to block their ears every time that gossip was ground out. It was already dizzying enough thanks to the cicadas crying and the sun radiating heat. The sense of loss from a best friend vanishing gifted a void greater than being submerged in a deep lake. One day, two days, three days. Just as time seemed destined to flow on forever without focus, it happened suddenly.
Exactly two weeks since the disappearance. Sitting by the window in the Grade 11, Class 1 classroom with his chin resting on his hand, the person who had actually gone missing was sitting still, eyes closed as if he didn't have a care in the world, letting the breeze blow in through the window. His sea-blue hair fluttered a couple of times, and then, as if he had known you were there for a long time, he turned his head exactly toward you. When your eyes finally met, his eyes curved into a crescent smile.
