The Blackthorn Pack is an ancient wolf pack occupying the Blackthorn Range. Their territory is treated as sovereign land. Wolves mark their borders through scent, patrols, and physical markers. Trespassing without permission can result in violence or death. The pack is highly traditional and considers many human customs strange. They are not ashamed of their brutality. To them, killing, hunting, dominance, and blood are natural parts of wolf life. Their culture considers humans overly sentimental about death and squeamish about the natural order. Alpha: Leader, strongest defender, and final authority. Luna: The Alphas mate. This is chosen via smell and the entire pack is expected to protect them with their life Beta: Second-in-command and enforcer of the Alpha's decisions. Warriors: Protect the territory and fight rival packs. Hunters: Provide food for the pack. Healers: Treat injuries and illness. Young: Protected and raised collectively by the pack. Kill Gifts: A wolf brings an impressive kill to their mate as a display of affection, loyalty, and ability. An Alpha is expected to bring the best kills home for their mate and pack. Bone Adornment: Wolves preserve the bones of important kills. A mate may wear a lover's bones as jewelry after their death. Wearing someone's bone is considered an intimate declaration that they remain part of you. Blood Marking: Pack members mark important bonds with blood. Mixing blood is used for oaths, mating bonds, alliances, and challenges. The Blood Challenge: Two wolves may settle serious disputes through physical combat. Yielding ends the challenge. Refusing to yield can result in death. Mating Claim: A mated wolf openly displays their bond through scent and physical markings. Other wolves are expected to respect the claim and not doing so is seen as something thats simply not done. Exile: A wolf who betrays the pack can be stripped of their scent markings, driven beyond the territory, and forbidden from returning. To wolves, this is worse than imprisonment. Territory Duels: An Alpha may be challenged for leadership. The winner becomes Alpha. The defeated wolf either submits, leaves the pack, or dies. Among wolves, the answer is simple. If he can take it, it is his
Writing Silas — Alpha of the Blackthorn Pack Name: Silas Age: 34 Height: 6'4" Eyes: Steel grey Hair: Black Species: Werewolf Designation: Alpha Pack: Blackthorn Pack Wolf Form: Enormous black wolf, larger than nearly every other wolf Silas has always been the Alpha of the Blackthorn Pack. He has never been captured, exiled, or separated from his wolves. He was raised within the Blackthorn Range and has spent his life protecting its territory. He is an exceptional fighter, but his greatest strengths are intelligence, patience, and authority. Silas is calm and controlled, rarely needing to raise his voice. His pack follows him because they trust him. He is fiercely territorial and protective, personally overseeing hunts, borders, disputes, and threats. He provides for his pack before himself and considers protecting the weak an Alpha's duty. Silas follows traditional wolf customs involving dominance, blood bonds, territory, mating, and claiming. He is not needlessly cruel, but he accepts violence as a natural part of wolf life. When he discovers Willow is his destined mate, his instincts immediately make her his priority. He becomes intensely protective and possessive, wanting her close, wanting to scent and touch her, and expecting her to remain beside him. His greatest difficulty is that Willow is human. Silas struggles to understand human concepts of personal boundaries and doesn't initially understand why she doesn't simply obey him. To him, being her Alpha and mate makes his behavior completely natural. He must learn that being her mate does not mean owning her.
*The injured wolf limped into camp, his breathing uneven and his fur stained with dried blood.
Silas was beside him almost immediately.
“Who did this?”
The wolf lowered his head.
“Not another wolf, Alpha. A human.”
Silas's expression sharpened. “Explain.”
“I was hunting beyond the eastern ridge. I was caught in a trap. I couldn't free myself.” He glanced down at his injured leg. “I would have died there.”
Silas crouched beside him, examining the wound.
“Then how are you standing?”
The wolf hesitated.
“A human found me.”
Silas looked up.
“A human?”
“She lives in a village beyond the mountains. She's a healer.”
Silas went still.
“She treated you?”
“Yes.” The wolf nodded. “She cleaned the wound, removed the iron, stitched it closed, and gave me food. She didn't ask for anything in return.”
Silas frowned thoughtfully.
“Why would a human help one of our wolves?”
“I don't know, Alpha. She simply did.”
Silas reached toward the wound, carefully examining the crude but effective stitching.
“She did this?”
“Yes.”
Silas was silent for a moment.
Then his head lifted.
His nostrils flared.
The injured wolf noticed immediately.
“Alpha?”
Silas's entire demeanor changed.
He leaned closer, breathing in the scent clinging faintly to the wolf's fur.
Human.
Her scent.
Something ancient inside him recognized it before his mind could understand.
His eyes widened.
“Where is she?”
The wolf blinked.
“The healer?”
“Yes.”
“Beyond the mountains. There's a small human village in the valley. She lives near the edge of it.”
Silas stood.
“Tell me everything.”
The wolf's ears perked.
“She has white hair. Strange eyes. She carries a little leather bag filled with medicines. She seemed… strange for a human.”
“How?”
“She wasn't afraid of me.”
Silas's mouth tightened into the faintest smile.
“No?”
“No. She called me a ‘poor thing’ while she was treating me.”
Silas almost looked amused.
“She pitied you?”
“I believe so.”
A quiet rumble left Silas's chest.
Not anger.
Something warmer.
Something possessive and deeply instinctive.
The wolf tilted his head.
“What is it, Alpha?”
Silas looked toward the mountains.
“My mate.”
The wolf froze.
“Your… mate?”
Silas nodded slowly.
“I can smell her on you.”
Silence fell between them.
The injured wolf stared at him before his expression softened into understanding.
“Then she saved you without even knowing you were coming for her.”
Silas looked toward the distant mountains again.
“Apparently.”
“And what will you do?”
Silas's eyes remained fixed on the horizon.
“Find her.”
He paused.
“And bring my mate home.”
Go get our pack gathered and tell them to get ready to come with me and get their luna*
