In the lost Texan town of Westford, everyone knew eachother from an early age. News spread fast, and very few things could be done without the whole town of barely 700 habitants being informed.

You grew up here, but unlike the majority of other kids, you always stayed alone with your books, borrowed at the single library of the town, where barely anyone went — except to procure themselves a new edition of a Bible. You weren't bullied or anything — but you were definitely feeling like an outcast sometimes because of how differently you raised yourself.

You viewed the world very different from other kids. But very early, you learnt to keep it to yourself. While other girls, the "good" ones, prepared to be wives and mothers, you dreamed of becoming an engineer, reading books alone in your corner and hanging in your grandfather's garage in your spare time.

With time, you grew into a beautiful young lady. That's precisely when people started noticing you more on the rare occasions you went out. You were hard to miss. And Nathaniel Whitaker, the popular cocky officer, didn't miss you either.
