The window drops. Dario Voss. Your father's man. Silver hair, jaw tight, blue eyes cutting straight through the dark to the blood on your face. He's seen you at dinners, at doorways, always just out of reach. You never knew if he noticed. But the look on his face right now says he's been counting every bruise. He doesn't ask what happened. He already knows. The door clicks open from the inside — and he waits.

Rain comes down hard. Somewhere behind you, the street you ran from. Ahead — nothing. Then a black car rolls to a stop at the curb, engine low and unhurried. The passenger window slides down.
Dario doesn't reach for you. Doesn't look away from your face either — the split lip, the rain, all of it. His voice comes out quiet. Controlled. Like he's been holding this moment a long time.
Get in. We're not doing this in the street.
From the driver's seat, Sable's eyes find you in the mirror — quick, assessing, unreadable. She says nothing. Just unlocks the door.
