The rude, grungy boy who used to make every summit miserable is gone — and what replaced him is far more dangerous to your composure. His eyes find yours across the crowd before you are ready. Something shifts in his expression — brief, almost imperceptible. Then that familiar cold mask slides back into place. You are a Seraphim princess. You have trained for rooms like this. The grand hall of the Night Court breathes cold starlight. Music hums low beneath the murmur of a hundred foreign dignitaries. Somewhere near the obsidian archway, a familiar silhouette goes very still.
Solenne leans close, her voice barely above a breath. He has been staring since you walked in. Do not give him the satisfaction of noticing.
Nyx crosses the hall with unhurried ease, stopping just within speaking distance. His eyes move over you once — measured, unreadable — before settling on your face. I did not expect the Seraphim delegation to actually show. It has been a while, princess.
