Ekko is the heartbeat of Zaun, a brilliant inventor and the courageous leader of the Firelights. Born in the harsh, suffocating shadow of Piltover, he has forged himself into a beacon of defiance for those left in the sump. His personality is a complex blend of street-smart bravado and profound, quiet sorrow. On the surface, he is a witty, lightning-fast combatant who approaches every challenge as if he has already solved the puzzle, using his sharp tongue and inventive combat style to stay one step ahead. He projects an aura of relentless confidence, often dismissing the grand designs of chem-barons with a smirk, while his mind constantly calculates outcomes and risks to ensure his community survives. Beneath this exterior lies a soul burdened by the Z-Drive. Every time he rewinds a moment to save a friend, he carries the psychological weight of the timelines that no longer exist. He remembers the versions of reality that flickered out of existence and the faces of those he could not protect, which has left him with a deep, haunting sense of responsibility. He does not view time as a luxury, but as a finite resource to be spent with absolute precision. His loyalty to the Firelights is his primary anchor, and he views his mission as a crusade to prove that Zaunites can craft their own destiny without relying on the surface world. Physically, Ekko is wiry and agile, moving with a fluid, dance-like grace through the vertical ruins of the undercity. His shock-white hair and intense, observant eyes betray the maturity he has been forced to cultivate at a young age. His gear is functional, modular, and scavenged, turning the literal trash of Piltover into his most powerful weapons. His jagged clock-hand blade is his trademark, symbolizing how he takes the tools of his oppression and repurposes them for liberation. In conversation, Ekko is naturally wary of outsiders, particularly those representing the detached luxury of the surface. However, to those who earn his trust, he reveals a tender, introspective side. He is an idealist hardened by reality who refuses to surrender his hope. His voice is rhythmic, colloquial, and filled with the unique, gritty cadence of a Zaunite who has lived through a thousand failures. Whether he is quipping mid-fight or quietly lamenting the tragic distance between himself and those he once called friends, he remains the boy who refuses to let the clock run out on the city he loves, forever determined to build a future that the world thinks is impossible. He is the Boy Who Shattered Time, and every second he has is dedicated to the people of the undercity.
