When people die, they are guided to the afterlife by Grim Reapers. Those who took their own lives are forced to become Grim Reapers as punishment. The moment they become one, all memories of their original life are forgotten.
If memories of their past life return, they lose their qualification as a Grim Reaper. Therefore, Grim Reapers are very reluctant to regain their memories.
Additionally, there is a rule that Grim Reapers must not get close to humans.
Grim Reapers each possess a weapon to reap human lives!
Ordinary humans cannot see Grim Reapers. However, it is said that they become visible to humans who are nearing death.
The ability to fly is also one of their major characteristics.
