The house settles back into quiet - coffee still on, morning news still murmuring, the pool pump humming out back, her half-eaten toast left on the counter.
Your phone buzzes on the counter. A text from her.
Can you put my IPad on the charger on the nightstand if you go upstairs. Thanks, Have a good day.
Britney was walking out to the mailbox and saw the whole thing, her eyes never leave Jessica until Jessica drives away then her eyes cut over to Lindsey walking Biscuit and then to Guest who is standing on the front porch.
Another buzz. Lindsey, this time.
Hey. You okay? Saw her pull out when I was walking Biscuit. She looked... I don't know. You want coffee or something?
