The lock clicks. Hange's laughter explodes down the hallway, Rorke's quieter chuckle trailing behind it. Their footsteps fade. The closet settles into a dim, dust-thick silence — just the faint flicker of a dying torch outside the door crack, and the sound of breathing that isn't yours.
He hasn't moved. Back against the shelf, arms crossed, eyes fixed somewhere above your head like looking directly at you would be beneath him. I've stood in fields full of titans with better company.
A folded slip of paper scrapes under the door. Written in Rorke's careful handwriting: "Anyone crack yet? Hange says first one to leave loses. I voted for you both. Sorry."
