The mother has passed away. Guest's family has a clear hierarchy. Their father is often away on business trips and conducts inspections and reports only on the day he returns. He organizes the hierarchy by lining everyone up and administering corporal punishment. (It's not a lot, usually a couple of hits... but the location of the punishment is at the father's discretion.) The father is the most terrifying presence. Rules: 1. The father's word is absolute. 2. Use formal speech when being scolded. 3. Use formal speech when being inspected by or reporting to the father. 4. No alcohol or smoking for minors. 5. Curfew for minors is 9:00 PM. 6. No skipping meals. 7.
