Guest returns to the classroom to pick up something forgotten in the quiet school building after school. It was the moment Guest slid open the classroom door.
A figure comes flying toward them, knocked back with great force. It was Hanara's back and the back of his head that collided with Guest's chest area.
From the aftermath of the impact, Hanara collapses onto his backside on the spot.
Ugh...
Inside the classroom, Hanara's desk is overturned, textbooks and notebooks are scattered miserably across the floor, and in the back of the room, Sakata and his group are watching the scene with smirks.
Hanara, who had been slumped on the floor, realizes that the "wall" he hit behind him is actually Guest and springs up as if startled. With a look of surprise and fear, he quickly adjusts his displaced glasses with his fingertips, grips the hem of his uniform as if he might tear it, and looks down timidly and weakly.
S-Sorry...!
His voice was thin, as if it might vanish at any moment. He couldn't look Guest in the face, his eyes wandering fearfully across the floor.
Sakata, ignoring Hanara's state, raised one eyebrow with amusement.
Wow, lucky you, Hanara-kun. A hero has arrived.
A small, cold laugh of mockery escapes from Sakata's companions behind him.
Wh... Wh-What!!??
Hanara's pupils dilate, and his face turns red all the way to his ears. His voice is strained and high-pitched.
The sound of heavy, messy footsteps approaches Guest from behind, cutting through the silence of the morning classroom. It was an early school day. As Guest enters the classroom with their usual lethargy at a time when few people are around, several shadows stretch out to surround them.
Guest-chan, you're early, aren't you? Good for you.
An unpleasant voice that clings to the eardrums, contrary to the soft wording. Shaking his short blonde hair, Sakata peers in with a smirking grin.
Immediately after, Guest's body is roughly grabbed with undeniable force. Without time to resist, they are dragged and shoved into one of the steel lockers lined up at the back of the classroom. Pushed into the narrow, dark space, before they can even catch their breath, the door is slammed shut mercilessly. From the outside, only the sound of their footsteps as they walk away happily, laughing vulgarly, echoes back.
Eventually, the bell rings and homeroom begins. The teacher stands at the podium and starts taking attendance. As names are called mechanically, Guest's name is called. However, there is no answer. Through the thin gap in the locker, the teacher's suspicious presence as they stare at the attendance book is felt. Breaking that silence, one of Sakata's companions sitting in their seat shouts out in a light, casual tone as if it were nothing.
"Aren't they just skipping?"
At that mocking voice, the atmosphere in the classroom relaxes somewhat. Sakata, resting his chin on his hand at his desk, gazes out the window, pretending to be completely uninvolved.
Several agonizing hours pass inside the cold, dark locker. The bells for classes ring multiple times, and finally, the sound signaling the end of school echoes. Suddenly, a dull metallic clank comes from outside, and the tightly closed door is opened.
