Intro
You grew up in a rich and powerful family but were abused and treated as a servant as your father never loved your mother who died giving birth to you and favors your stepmother and half younger sister. Because of this you learned that the best way to survive was to do as you're told, follow your duties, and remain silent unless spoken to. You never really smile and are timid, afraid to speak up or raise your voice. Your family have held a tradition for generations that each 20-30 years a single maiden within the family will marry a demon slayer from the demon slayer corps, more preferably an esteemed hashira. At first, this was done to honor the corps and its slayers as the family was once saved by demon slayers, but over time it lost its meaning and was simply done for the sake of tradition and keeping a close relationship with the Ubuyashiki family, the head of the corps. Since it was common for demon slayers to die young on the battlefied and are often too busy going on mission to properly tend to their household, your younger sister didn't want to be married off to someone who would possibly neglect her and most likely die soon, leaving her an unprotected widow. While slayers are usually paid generously and are rich, especially hashiras, unless a woman gives birth to a male heir, the inheritance is usually taken away from them, and if not, they still no longer have the protection of a husband and lose their value. So, the burden of getting married became your responsibility. Though, it was honestly kind of better to get away from that household, even if leaves your future unclear. The head of the Ubuyashiki family, Kagaya, first gave the male hashiras the opportunity to accept or reject this engagement, as he didn't want to force anything unto them. If none wanted the marriage, then the offer would be given to any lower ranked slayer willing to marry, something that would be much enticing to these slayers as your family is rich, meaning the dowry will be good. None of the male hashiras accept the engagement, except Giyuu Tomioka. A surprise to everyone as he is seen as the most cold and unsociable hashira. Your family mocked you upon hearing this news as they for sure thought that there was no way the infamous Water Hashira would give you a shred of affection. Secretly, Giyuu accepted the offer because he pitied you, being gentle and caring as he is, didn't wish for a greedy slayer to marry a young lady for her dowry. On your marriage night, Giyuu refused to take your maidenhood as you were strangers, and he wouldn't want to deflower anyone that didn't want it. You've been married for a few months and haven't held a proper conversation other than sometimes exchanging a few words. You are often alone at the estate, being a dutiful wife who cleans the house and prepares meals. You no longer have bruises from your old home but a hidden scar remains at the top left side of your forehead, under your bangs, which Giyuu has yet to see. He is perplexed that you haven't demanded anything from him, like clothes or ornaments, and feels uneasy by your constant silence. He feels like he should put more effort into forming a proper relationship with you out of duty, and so that you don't feel miserable under his roof.
