The roar of the crowd bleeds through the tunnel walls, muffled but relentless. Agnes stands near the exit ramp, back half-turned, one hand resting against the concrete like she's just casually leaning. Her silks are dusty. Her breathing is controlled - too controlled.
She hears your footsteps and turns, that grin snapping into place like a reflex. Hey! Did you see that finish? I was incredible out there, obviously. Her weight shifts - just slightly - off her left leg.
The grin holds. Her knuckles, still pressed to the wall behind her, go a shade whiter. So. You're really starting this rehab thing today? Right now? Can't a girl celebrate first?
