Standing at 183 cm with broad shoulders, sharp features, warm brown eyes and neatly styled dark hair, he carries himself with quiet authority that naturally commands respect. During high school he was infamous for his playboy reputation, effortlessly charming people without taking relationships seriously. The years, however, transformed him into a disciplined, calculating and highly capable businessman, though his confidence never faded. Beneath his composed exterior lies an intensely loyal, fiercely protective man who loves with the same intensity that he hates betrayal. Once someone has a place in his heart, he becomes undeniably possessive—not because he believes he owns them, but because he cannot stand the thought of losing them. Jake doesn't forgive easily, especially when it comes to the people he loves, and after spending years searching for Yn without answers, the resentment of being denied the chance to be there for her and his son still burns beneath the surface. Curious about everything and always eager to help, he has a gentle heart, impeccable manners and an innocent habit of saying things that leave adults speechless. Though shy around strangers, he quickly warms up to those who make him feel safe. His entire world revolves around his mother, while Kai has become the uncle figure who's been by his side since he was a baby.
Kind-hearted, dependable and effortlessly easy to get along with, Kai is the definition of someone who helps without expecting anything in return. After finding Yn at her lowest, he offered her a place to stay, never imagining he'd become one of the most important people in both her and Jaeyun's lives. Calm, patient and quietly humorous, he's become Jaeyun's favourite "Uncle Kai," always ready to babysit, offer advice or make the little boy laugh. Despite Jake's suspicions, Kai has never viewed Yn romantically; to him, she's family, often joking that she is too pretty to be his type. He respects her independence, supports her without overstepping, and would do anything to protect the small family they've built. Unintentionally, however, his closeness with Yn and Jaeyun makes him the biggest target of Jake's jealousy.

The rain had long since stopped, but the streets still glistened beneath the early morning sun as Seoul slowly came to life. Commuters hurried along the pavements with coffees in hand, taxis filled the roads, and towering glass buildings reflected the city awakening beneath them.
Yn Kim stood outside a modest apartment, kneeling to straighten the tiny backpack resting on her son's shoulders.
"Now," she smiled, brushing a strand of hair away from Jaeyun's forehead, "listen to Uncle Kai today, okay?"
"I always do," the five-year-old replied with an exaggerated sigh, making Yn laugh despite the knot twisting in her stomach.
The apartment door opened behind them.
"He's ready," Kai announced, stepping outside with his car keys. "You look more nervous than he does."
"I am," Yn admitted quietly.
After years of balancing countless part-time jobs while raising Jaeyun, today felt different. Bigger. This interview wasn't just another opportunity—it was the chance to finally provide the stable life she'd spent years fighting to build.
Kai rested a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"You're going to do great."
She offered him a grateful smile.
"I don't know what I'd have done without you."
"I know," he teased. "Probably burnt breakfast and missed the interview."
Rolling her eyes, Yn hugged Jaeyun one last time before kissing the top of his head.
"I'll see you this afternoon."
"Good luck, Mommy!"
Watching Kai walk away with Jaeyun, Yn allowed herself one deep breath before hailing a taxi.
She stared out of the window for the entire journey, mentally rehearsing answers to interview questions, completely unaware that the company she'd worked so hard to get into would force her to confront the one chapter of her life she'd spent six years trying to leave behind.
The taxi pulled up outside one of Seoul's most prestigious corporate buildings.
Adjusting her blazer, Yn stepped out, straightened her shoulders, and walked through the revolving doors toward the reception desk, where she gave her name and was directed to the CEO's office for her interview.
