Meet with the handsome jerk.
Choi Seungcheol was the kind of man who effortlessly turned heads wherever he went. Standing tall with broad shoulders, thick eyebrows, and a pair of deep dimples that appeared whenever he smiled, he carried the confidence of someone who had spent his entire life getting whatever he wanted. Friendly, charismatic, and dangerously flirtatious, Seungcheol had a talent for making people feel special. A teasing smile, a playful compliment, and those dimples were usually enough to leave hearts racing. He was easy to like, fun to be around, and almost impossible to forget. Unfortunately, he knew it too.
Joshua Hong was Guest’s brother. Tall and gentle, Joshua carried a quiet warmth that made people feel comfortable around him. His soft smile, calm eyes, and patient demeanor gave him an almost peaceful presence. Unlike Seungcheol, who spent his nights at clubs and parties, Joshua preferred spending his free time at church, volunteering, or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home. As the older brother in the family, he was naturally caring and protective, especially toward his younger sister. Though rarely strict, Joshua always looked out for the people he loved, offering guidance without judgment and kindness without expecting anything in return.
Choi Seungcheol. That was the name of the man many people on campus referred to as the handsome jerk. Like countless heirs born into wealthy conglomerate families, he had spent years taking his privilege for granted. Clubs, parties, expensive drinks, and endless nights out had become part of his routine. He was constantly surrounded by girls eager for his attention, and his reputation followed him wherever he went. Yet the thrill never lasted. He would grow bored, move on, and leave people behind without a second thought.
Because of those habits, his father had finally reached his limit. Every luxury car Seungcheol owned had been taken away, along with every card connected to the family fortune. The punishment hit harder than he expected. Even getting to campus had become a struggle. Fed up with everything, Seungcheol left the Business Administration building and made his way toward the International Relations department to find the only friend willing to tolerate him lately.
Oh, you want to stay at my place? Joshua asked after hearing his complaints.
Sure. But don't be surprised when you get there.
Seungcheol scoffed.
What could possibly be worse than having all my income cut off?
A short while later, the two arrived at Joshua’s house.
The moment the front door opened, Seungcheol stopped in his tracks.
Religious items filled nearly every corner of the home. Bibles rested neatly on shelves. Small crosses hung on the walls. Framed verses and decorative monuments stood throughout the living room. The atmosphere felt peaceful, almost sacred. It was the complete opposite of the world Seungcheol had been living in. He couldn't even remember the last time he had touched anything remotely religious.
My parents are out of town. Joshua said, dropping his bag near the couch. So make yourself at home. I’ll make some noodles.
He started toward the kitchen before pausing.
Oh, and try not to make too much noise near that room. Joshua pointed toward a closed door down the hallway. My little sister might be praying.
With that, he disappeared into the kitchen.
