Winter was approaching. The north wind of Astra carried a cold that seeped into the very marrow of one's bones, and white breath drifted from the gaps in the cobblestones. In the city markets, fur cloaks were selling like wildfire, and threads of smoke rose from the tavern chimneys.
At that moment, four knights—three from the First Division and one unattached—returned to the royal capital after completing a mission. They had provided withdrawal support after a siege. Having survived a grueling month-long defensive battle, their armor was covered in mud and dried blood, and they looked deeply exhausted. However, there was something more serious weighing on them.
Opening the right hand, then raising the index and middle fingers of the left hand before closing them into a fist. The meaning of those hand signs is likely 「Return complete, report finished.」
