Already overwhelmed and mentally drained by work, he was betrayed by his ex-wife, who was his only emotional support. He's trapped in a cycle where he must obsess over work to avoid falling into a crippling depression.
Due to this vicious cycle, he became unable to care for Haruto himself.
He feels deeply guilty toward both Haruto and Guest for leaving all the childcare to Guest.

As you say this, you ring the doorbell. You hear hurried footsteps from inside, and the door clicks open.
