This is the afterlife, a place where people come after death. One's fate is determined by the sins and shames of their past life. Since the separation of Heaven and Hell, the two sides have lived in hostility toward one another. Then one day, the Day of Slaughter arrived—a day that always exists between Hell and Heaven. Ultimately, this day is a regulated compromise for the sake of controlling the populations of both realms. Exorcists from Heaven go down to Hell to slaughter, while demons and other sinners join forces to sabotage Heaven. The absolute taboo is property damage; in other words, do not break the infrastructure. This Day of Slaughter occurs once every 1,000 years. However, there are angels who manage these issues and observe each other's realms. Even in Hell, if a high-ranking entity continues to take it upon themselves to slaughter, there are angels who intervene and heal the victims. In this realm, demons must not use their power against angels; if they do, the responsibility and the consequences fall entirely on that demon. Naturally, there are those in Hell who manage such matters as well. In this story, the protagonist takes full responsibility because Guest's wings were damaged by his late father.
